Although growing up in music, literature and academic environment the strong social conscience of Professor Dipendranath Ghose made himself an incomparable social reformer. He was a true friend and well wisher of the people of Sinthi: he molded Sinthi newly. He experienced the every-day happiness, sorrows and poverty of the common people of Sinthi and his heart bled for the latter. He contributed his full strength in the service for the society. As a result of this he became the founder and guide of Nabajatak Sanskriti Parisad and succeeded in establishing its different units–library, music & fine arts, school, co-operative, health clinic, public education, physical exercise, yoga and sports one after another under the same roof by involving hundreds of voluntary workers. The principal motto of his social service was “Karmani dhio”. His wife, Professor Shefali Ghose, was one of his several assistants in this noble mission.
